MUSIC 9 (Aug. 29 – Sept. 2)

This week the students will wrap up the unit about the Power of Music in Advertising, by changing the background music of a given video in order to convey a complete different message.

Art August 29-02

Objective: Students will explore the element of non-color value and learn how light and shade help to make shapes appear 3-dimensional when drawn on a flat surface.

Have students select a subject and produce a contour line drawing.

Encourage students to choose a single object such as a car, insect, person’s face, fish, etc. Subject could be taken from a magazine photo or printed.
Student’s image or images should be chosen according to the level of each student.

When each student has drawn or printed their image, grid over the image to enlarge it.

ELA August 29-Sept 2

We will continue with close reading of Roald Dahl stories this week. You should continue your daily warm-up exercises and there will be a vocabulary check each Friday. By the end of the week, you should have finished “The Landlady” and “Skin” and be able to complete a triple venn diagram comparing and contrasting all three stories of Dahl.

Purpose:  To gain and use knowledge about cell structure and internal organization.

Objective: To demonstrate your knowledge about cell’s organelles by making a creative and colorful model of a cell.

Points Values: 50 points

Cell parts – 30 points

Proper function – 15 points

Function/Form Relationship – 15 points

Creativity – 10 points

Appearance – 10 points

Colorful – 5 points

Neatness – 5 points


What to do?

Function/Form Relationship

  • Select a building, topic, or idea which has many smaller parts which each have their own job but overall work for the function of the whole
    • Ex: “Cell Town”
  • Relate each organelle to one of these smaller parts
  • Relate each organelle to the whole function of the building, topic, or idea
  • For each organelle:
    • Write the organelle’s name
    • Write what you are comparing it to
    • Write its true function (in the cell)
    • Write its function within the comparison
    • Write how the comparison and its true function relate


  • Make it your own; different from others
  • Put your personality into it
  • Use a comparison idea that you know a lot about

Lunes 29 de agosto terminaremos el análisis poético de “Milagros de nuestra señora”

Martes 30 estudiaremos las Jarchas.

Miércoles 31 primer control de lectura del cantar del Roldán, estrofas I – L, se les recomienda llevar lista de personajes y vocabulario.

Jueves 1 de septiembre trabajarán con la información del arte románico y gótico. Después serán las presentaciones.

Viernes 2 serán las presentaciones del arte gótico y románico.Trabajarán en los cuestionarios de la Edad Media.

 Martes 6 de septiembre: tendrán examen de los contenidos de la “La Edad Media” ( contexto histórico, político, económico y literarios) juglares, trovadores, arte románico y gótico.

Tarea para el lunes 5 de septiembre llevar impresa la obra “El auto de los reyes magos”
